About This Camera
The panoramic webcam provides the most comprehensive view of Times Square available online. Positioned at elevation on the north side of the square, it captures the full sweep of the bowtie-shaped district — from the famous One Times Square tower (home of the New Year's Eve Ball Drop) to the Broadway theatre district and the river of headlights streaming through 7th Avenue below.
Because of its wide field of view, this camera is ideal for watching large events, New Year's Eve, major concerts on the outdoor stages, and simply taking in the overwhelming sensory spectacle that is Times Square on any ordinary night.
What You Can See
- One Times Square — the 25-story tower that anchors the district
- The giant Nasdaq MarketSite and TKTS booth area
- Streams of yellow taxis and pedestrians crossing 42nd–47th Streets
- Dozens of LED billboards lighting up the district in color
- Broadway marquees along the perimeter of the square
- Clear views toward Midtown South and the Empire State Building on clear days
Best Times to Watch
Times Square is electric 24 hours a day, but certain moments are especially worth tuning in:
- Midnight (any night) — the crossroads is bathed in billboard light and surprisingly alive
- 5–7 PM weekdays — rush hour turns the square into organized chaos
- New Year's Eve (Dec 31) — the world's most-watched live countdown
- Summer weekends — outdoor performances, food fairs and maximum crowds
- After snowfall — a rare and beautiful quiet falls over the square
