Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data is processed when you visit times-square.webcam, which third-party services we use, and what rights you have.

Last updated: June 2025  ·  Site: times-square.webcam

1. Who We Are

This website (times-square.webcam) provides live webcam feeds and information about Times Square in New York City. The site is operated as a personal/independent project.

2. What Data We Collect Ourselves

We do not collect, store or process any personal data directly. We have no user accounts, no registration forms, no contact forms, no analytics scripts, and no advertising pixels. We do not set any first-party cookies.

Your web server access logs (IP address, browser, page visited, timestamp) may be recorded by the hosting provider as a standard technical necessity. These logs are not used for marketing or profiling.

3. Third-Party Services

The following third-party services are used on this website. Each may process data independently under their own privacy policies.

3.1 YouTube (Google LLC) — Video Embeds

This site embeds YouTube live streams using the privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Under this mode, YouTube does not set cookies or track your viewing activity unless you click to play a video. If you click play, YouTube may set functional and, depending on your Google account status, personalisation cookies.

  • Data processed: IP address, browser info, watch history (if you click play and are logged into Google)
  • Legal basis (GDPR): Legitimate interest (providing the primary service) / Consent (if marketing cookies are involved)
  • Provider: Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA
  • Google Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
  • YouTube Privacy-Enhanced Mode: support.google.com

Thumbnail images for the webcam previews are loaded from i.ytimg.com (YouTube's image CDN). This is a passive HTTP request; no cookies are set by this request.

3.2 Bunny Fonts (BunnyWay d.o.o.)

Web fonts (Anton, Barlow, Barlow Condensed) are loaded from fonts.bunny.net, a privacy-friendly alternative to Google Fonts operated by BunnyWay d.o.o. in Slovenia (EU). Bunny Fonts does not log IP addresses or set cookies, and processes no personal data beyond the transient server connection needed to serve the font files.

  • Provider: BunnyWay d.o.o., Cesta komandanta Staneta 4A, 1215 Medvode, Slovenia
  • Bunny Fonts Privacy: fonts.bunny.net

3.3 External Links

This site contains links to external websites including timessquarenyc.org, en.wikipedia.org, YouTube and camguide.net. When you click these links you leave times-square.webcam and their respective privacy policies apply.

4. Cookies

We use one first-party localStorage entry (ts_consent_v1) to remember the cookie preference you select in the banner. This is not a cookie in the technical HTTP sense but a browser storage item. It stores only the text value "all" or "essential". It contains no personal data and is never sent to any server.

Name Source Purpose Expiry
ts_consent_v1 times-square.webcam (localStorage) Stores cookie consent choice Until cleared by user
YouTube cookies youtube-nocookie.com (on click) Video player functionality Session / up to 2 years

5. Your Rights (GDPR / EU Residents)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of access — to obtain confirmation of whether your data is processed and, if so, a copy of it
  • Right to rectification — to have inaccurate data corrected
  • Right to erasure — to request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to restriction — to request that processing of your data be restricted
  • Right to data portability — to receive your data in a portable format
  • Right to object — to object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Right to withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing

Since we do not directly collect personal data, most of these rights would need to be exercised with the relevant third-party providers (Google/YouTube).

6. How to Withdraw Consent or Delete Your Preference

To reset your cookie consent preference, open your browser's developer tools or settings and clear the localStorage entry ts_consent_v1 for the domain times-square.webcam. The cookie banner will reappear on your next visit.

To prevent YouTube from processing data, do not click play on embedded videos, or watch the streams directly at YouTube while logged out.

7. Data Transfers Outside the EU

YouTube is operated by Google LLC, a US company. Data transfers to the USA are covered by Google's participation in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision by the European Commission, July 2023).

Bunny Fonts is operated from Slovenia (EU) — no transfer outside the EEA.

8. Children's Privacy

This website does not knowingly collect data from or target content at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). The content — live webcam feeds of a public urban space — is general-audience in nature.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact

For privacy-related questions or to exercise your rights, please contact us via the website's hosting provider or the contact form on the Times Square Alliance website at . We will respond within 30 days.
